As we wind down for Christmas and reflect on our year, it’s only right that we take a look at all the great stuff that’s been added to Timely over the course of 2016.

New Timely features from 2016

We’ve had another great year of adding features and improving Timely, and as always we’re extremely grateful for all the wonderful feedback we get from our customers. Let’s dive right in!

Customer credit

In April, we made it possible to add credit to your customer accounts. Customer credit is a super handy feature if you have customers who want to pay in advance for future services.

Native iOS app

2016 was a momentous year for us. We released our first ever native app for iPads and iPhones! The new app includes a completely redesigned calendar, a customer section (including notes), a messages section, and we’ve integrated it with the Vend iPad app for our Vend users.

We’ve got some exciting additions to the iOS app coming in the new year, including an Activity view, packages and point-of-sale. You can keep an eye on our progress here.


Staff access changes

In July we introduced more finely-grained controls over security and staff access in Timely to make sure everyone’s seeing what you want them to see. We completely overhauled the Staff access page, making it easier to set individual access permissions.

Resource booking

Resource bookings came to Timely at the end of October, and have been a big hit. They can be used to set up rooms or equipment that are required for your services, and make sure they aren’t double-booked. Such a life saver!

Small(er) enhancements

One of the best parts of being in the cloud is that Timely is constantly evolving. We post about every update over on our Changelog. A few of the ‘smaller’ highlights this year include:

  • A brand new appointment screen. We gave the Add appointment popup a makeover, with a more logical flow (customer details first!) and a more condensed look.
  • It’s now possible to hide prices on the calendar screen along with customer names. Just press ‘B’ on your keyboard.
  • We added some new reports, including the ‘Deleted customers’ report and the ‘Declined appointments’ report.
  • These little quick-add buttons for appointments and sales to the main navigation. This means you can add an appointment or make a sale from anywhere in Timely! So quick and easy.
  • We made Vend and Timely work smoothly together on the iPad app – wahoo!

2017 is shaping up to be a stellar year

We’re not stopping now, though. 2017 is going to be an awesome year, feature-wise! We’ve got some excellent new developers who are already adding value all over the place, and we can’t wait to add even more awesome stuff.

Look out for our next big feature early next year, which will be customer follow-ups. You’ll be able to send follow-up messages to your customers to request a review, remind them to rebook or just say thank you!

We’ll keep rolling along with iOS features as well. You’ll be getting activity view, packages, and point-of-sale in the native app in 2017, along with lots more enhancements and updates!
