The owner, Fabian Sfameni, is a perfectionist and offers a service steeped in tradition. A third generation barber, Fab has been surrounded by passionate barbers and businessmen his entire life. This passion and history has made him one of Melbourne’s most esteemed individuals behind the clippers.
Uncle Rocco’s Barber Shop is aptly named after his Uncle in New Jersey, who was a barber for over 50 years. Although utterly inspired by his forebears, Fab has honed and developed his own personal style and skills over the years.
Uncle Rocco’s Barber Shop was about wanting to continue their legacy and make them proud!
Uncle Rocco’s isn’t Fab’s first venture though. Prior to this he started and ran three of his own shops in Melbourne since 1996.
When Fab first opened his shop, most men weren’t going to barbers. Instead, they were heading to regular hair salons for their cuts and shaves.
I was mainly doing rockabilly’s and the working class as barbering prices were a lot cheaper compared to salons back then.
Barber shops are making a comeback worldwide, catering to the influx of millennials who are resurrecting old-school, classic looks. Fab’s advantage? People are finally catching up!
Fab is not shy of hard work, and this is the reason his business has seen such success.

For Fab, the best thing about being a business owner is loving what he does every day. There is never a dull moment. Not only are Fab and his crew meeting and styling numerous Melbourne gentlemen, but they’re also having a great time and encouraging clients to do the same. The shop is fitted out with a skate bowl, giving customers another reason to drop in. Fab is creating customers and friendships.
